12:15am – approximate dismissal - (parents… the buses may arrive earlier or later than expected. Please be patient. The best way to estimate our arrival is send your student with a cell phone and have them call you when they hit Round Rock. We should dismiss 45 minutes after hitting Round Rock. All students are expected to stay until dismissal after the trailer is unloaded- everybody helps!)

6:30pm- PARADE! – drumline continue playing cadence while brass and woodwinds load stands.
6:45pm – load stands – (woodwinds up right side / brass up left side – load simultaneously)
6:50pm – winds warm-up in stands
7:05pm – Water Break – No playing until our school song is announced.
7:17pm- visitor school song

7:28pm- National Anthem by choir
7:30pm- kickoff

11:15pm – load bus for Gattiland once you have paid your $25.00 (exact change necessary). 11:45pm to 7am

Gattiland Lock-in – Round Rock – this is optional, but encouraged… lots of fun!

We will bus the students to GattiLand.
Parent pick-up will be at Gattiland Round Rock at 7:00am sharp – students will not be allowed to drive themselves home. PLEASE be on time to pick up your child as the volunteer chaperones have been up all night!
Cost is $25.00 a student.
Current band and colorguard students only. No friends or alumni.

First week of school – band info
What a great summer marching camp! Great work, band! All my best on a fantastic first week of school this week! A few notes for school week one:

1. Each morning, be sure to pack your duffel with marching clothes, tennis shoes and a FULL jug of iced water. Many of you need to check the lost and found in RH1 for lost jugs

2. Monday’s after school rehearsal :

5:00pm – begin dressing out for after school rehearsal
5:10pm – move out to stadium
5:30pm – rehearsal begins in stadium
8:00pm – dismissal
Keva Juice is taking orders during band classes for smoothies.
These smoothies will be delivered after school on Monday between 4-4:30pm.
Each smoothie is $4.00. If you are interested, bring $4.00 with you to school and order during band class.

3. Tuesday and Thursday after school rehearsals begin at 4:30pm on the practice lot

Dismissal will be 7:00pm

4. Woodwinds – Bring both your marching and concert instruments on Tuesday (for class)

Brass – Bring both your marching and concert instruments on Thursday (for class)

5. Make sure all your stands tunes are in your flip folder! We are using flip folders out on the practice lot after school this week… be prepared! We also advise writing your name clearly with a paint pen on your flip folder. After the Georgette tune at each game, we will be collecting the flip folders in bins on the field as we head towards set 1 of the halftime show; thus necessitating your name being written on your flip folder.

Uniform Checkout

Uniform Checkout night is mandatory for all Band and Guard students. One parent needs to accompany the student for this evening as shown in the dates below in order to meet with Mr. Schayot and pay the August dues. Bring your checkbook as deposits, fees and merchandise will be paid on separate checks at separate checkout tables. NOTE: If you elect to pay your fees ONLINE ahead of time (instructions here), you will not have to wait in line at checkout. Be sure to print confirmation of your purchases and bring with you!

8 Print and complete the Fee Statement Form for 2010-2011. Note: The forms are different for Colorguard and Band. Fees have gone up this year for band and guard. Transportation, meal and uniform costs are all more expensive than in the past. Please be mindful that in our current economic situation, a few band and colorguard parents have lost their jobs. Please consider over the weekend if you or someone close to you would be willing to sponsor a student who the staff deem are in need of “Family Hardship Assistance”. Full Fair Share Fee donations are accepted as well as any amount less that you feel comfortable giving. Even small donations from each family able, multiplied out across the entire band, will go a long way towards assisting our families in need. Kenz Guitars will be available to sell flip folders, lyres, key oil, slide grease, reeds and other necessary accessories to compliment the marching band season.
There is a specific flow to the evening. Please arrive at the listed time through the blue double band hall doors on the west side of GHS. Click here for the letter from Ms. Oliver, our uniform coordinator for all the student uniform information the will need for the evening.
You can pre-pay for nearly your entire year in band using the “fee statement” form. Checks and cash only will be accepted on site. You can pay ONLINE before you arrive via Charms through the PayPal option. Click the “$” in the student screen in charms. Need help? Here is a quick “how-to” letter.
We will have a parent meeting at Uniform Checkout to discuss band calendar, band handbook, band payment schedule, class/rehearsal schedule and any other questions you may have. Make sure each student comes accompanied by a parent!

With new marcher camp on Wednesday, July 28^th and Full Band camp starting on Thursday, July 29^th… be sure you have all your paperwork complete and organized!

Final Checklist to start band:

Download, print, sign and return the GISD Extracurricular Policy Acknowledgment Form (Code of Conduct Compliance). This needs to be turned in to a director before you can start your first day of summer band!
Read the GISD Extracurricular Policy as defined in the GISD Code of Conduct. (Code of Conduct Appendices)
Download, print and complete the GISD Fine Arts Physical packet http://www.georgetownisd.org/ghs/trainers/med_forms.htm. This needs to be turned in to a director before you can start your first day of summer band!
Compile your band binder. Instructions here:
- Bring this with you on the first day of summer band!
- Print all necessary music at home and organize IN ORDER, in plastic page protectors.
Bring your large water jug filled with ice water & marching instrument
Wear your tennis shoes, shorts, sunscreen and a hat!
