What a great end to the season with the seniors being recognized for all of their commitment and hard work. In addition, I was very proud of the Forbes and Benold band students for their great performances at their concerts last week and at the game on Friday. Great job bands!!</div>
<div>Moving forward we have one final performance for the marching band season. That&#8217;s right, this Saturday is Texas State Band Day! I&#8217;m looking forward to joining the Bobcat Band for their game vs. Prairie View A&amp;M University this Saturday. What an honor for the Eagle Band. Also we will have the Masquerade Party this Friday night!</div>

We have completed the learning process for the full band show and have started the learning process for the competitive show. The students hard work is really starting to show and the staff and I are all so proud of their efforts. I had a great time at the band picnic and I am so glad that I stayed DRY;-)</p>

<p>Congrats to the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps on their DCI World Championship. Also, congrats to our very own Eagle band members Gordon Janda(Bluecoats) and Alex Lenoux(Genesis) on an excellent drum corps season. Great job guys!! We are all looking forward to your return to the Eagle Band.</p>
<p>Week 3 is another busy week for everyone so I will try to give as much information on the weeks events as possible.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">MONDAY 8/15</span>: <strong>CONVOCATION 7-9. </strong>The Wind Symphony students need to report to the band hall at 7am. The dress is concert black. They need to have their concert instrument and their music for &#8220;The Pledge of Allegiance&#8221; The rehearsal will be from 7-7:50. The performance will be from 8-8:30. The students will be released at around 8:45. This will be the first performance of the 2011-12 GHS Wind Symphony so make sure you are on time and prepared so we can have the best performance possible.</p>

We will be performing the full band show and some of the competitive show. The performance will take place at the band field just behind the tennis courts. <div><span style="text-decoration: underline;">WEDNESDAY8/17</span>: <strong>BAND PICTURE DAY! 11AM-4. </strong>We will be taking the group band photo and section photos at the stadium and individual photos for the band composite in the band hall area. Uniform checkout will begin at 11 and our <strong>1st inspection</strong> of the year will begin at 11:45 in the band hall. We will line up for pictures at noon. It will be hot outside so you should bring your water jug and a small hand towel so you won&#8217;t be sweaty and gross for your pictures. You will need your black band shoes and black socks. Make sure you are well groomed and looking professional so we can capture the moment perfectly!</div>

<li>The GHS Wind Symphony &amp; the GHS Full Orchestra has been asked to open the 8:00pm concert and fireworks for the Annual &#8220;Georgetown Festival of the Arts&#8221; here in San Gabriel Park.  We will be performing the Full Orchestra piece from UIL, Brahms&#8217; &#8220;Academic Festival Overture&#8221; as well as his &#8220;Hungarian Dance #5&#8243; alone as just the Wind Symphony.  All Wind Symphony students are needed for this performance as this will be the largest audience we perform for ALL YEAR!  Graduated Seniors included, we need you as part of this fantastic group!  Immediately following our performance will be the Temple Symphony&#8217;s performance of the Brahms &#8220;Serenade&#8221;.  Fireworks will conclude the evening over the San Gabriel River.  Students will be fed, courtesy of Georgetown Symphony Society.</li>

<p>All jazz students will meet at the NGC band hall immediately after school – no later than 4:15.  We will have already have placed equipment at EVHS from our Wednesday Jazz Ensemble rehearsal.  Students are responsible for getting themselves to the EVHS Band Hall after school.  PARENTS – IF YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO CARPOOL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND WE CAN SET SOMETHING UP.  Please remember to bring a sack dinner on this day.  Students will be allowed to eat when they are “off duty” between five pm and seven pm.  All jazz students will need to wear their Georgetown Jazz Shirt during the day Friday as you are helping to run the festival.  Students will have assigned positions to help as contest hosts all day.  Awards will be at 8:30pm followed by TC Fusion.  All students need to stay to the end of the festival.</p>

<p>All jazz students will meet at the EVHS band hall at 2:45.  Students are responsible for getting themselves to the EVHS Band Hall and for having a sack dinner for later.  Students are able to eat while not “on duty” between five and seven pm.</p>

<p>All Jazz Ensemble students will need to wear their Georgetown Jazz Shirt during the day Saturday as you are helping to run the festival.  Jazz Ensemble will also need to bring their Dress black clothes for the evening concert, instrument and music.  Once Vista Ridge has completed the stage performance we will meet on stage for a warm-up prior to our performance. Our concert will start around 8:30pm followed by the awards ceremony, and Temple Jazz Orchestra.  All students will need to stay to the end of the festival.</p>
<p>Jazz Band students will need to arrive in dress black clothes, with their instrument, music, and their jazz festival shirt and change of clothes as at 2:45.  Once you have completed your clinic, you will change and help host the festival.  After the last person has completed their task you can meet with Ms. Frost for further instruction.  The Jazz Ensemble performs at 8:30, followed by the awards ceremony, and Temple Jazz Orchestra concert.  All jazz students need to stay to the end of the festival.</p>

<p>Both the GHS Jazz Ensemble and the NGC Jazz Ensemble will performing from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.   Both bands will need to meet at the Main Red Poppy Stage in front of the court house on Austin and 8<sup>th</sup> at 2:00pm to unload equipment.  Jazz Band will start playing at 3:00 - 3:30.  We will switch bands and change equipment then close with the Jazz Ensemble from 3:30 &#8211; 4:00.  All students will need to wear their Georgetown Jazz shirt and khaki shorts.  Footwear can be tennis shoes or sandals and sunglasses are optional.  All jazzers will watch and support the other groups in the audience.  All students will need to stay after to help put equipment away and travel back to GHS Band Hall together to put instruments/equipment away.  Parents please help with any transportation needed.</p>

<h3>Saturday 12/4</h3>
<h4>Holiday on Parade at Sun City &amp; Georgetown Square Christmas Stroll</h4>
<ul>
<li> 10:00am to 5:45pm</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>We will march in the noon parade on the Georgetown   Square and then be bussed out to Sun  City to perform short performances in select neighborhoods spreading the holiday spirit!</li>
<li> Students need to bring:
<ul>
<li>Sack Lunch with a drink (we will provide water at Sun City)</li>
<li>Black Marching Shoes &amp; Black Socks</li>
<li>Black Triangle T</li>
<li>Blue Band Shorts OR warm long-john type clothing for underneath the uniform if it is COLD.  (we march in full uniform)</li>
<li>Holiday-themed headwear.  Santa hats, reindeer antlers, lights on your head, etc.  Ladies, do your best to keep your hair up and off the collar.</li>
<li>You are encouraged to decorate your horn as long as it plays properly.  We recommend using blue painter’s tape on your instrument to affix decorations.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>GUARD: Be dressed in track suit, black guard shirt, tennis shoes, Santa hat, hair 1/2 up/down.  Don’t forget your red flag and candy cane!</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>We will be bused to the square, march in the Stroll Parade at noon, and then go caroling through Sun City and will be dismissed from GHS</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Schedule<span id="more-1598"></span></li>
<li>10:00am – get dressed into uniform</li>
<li>10:15am – warm-up and rehearse the holiday-themed carols</li>
<li>11:00am – depart GHS</li>
<li>noon – parade down Austin Ave.</li>
<li>12:30pm – load buses to head to Sun City
<ul>
<li>Lunch &#8211; bring your sack lunch, we perform through lunch (kids eat on bus between gigs)</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>1:30pm to 5:30pm &#8211;  throughout Sun City door to door- this is a fundraiser for our program.</li>
<li>4:45pm &#8211; end performances and load buses</li>
<li>5:30pm &#8211; unload buses at GHS – hang your uniform up in uniform room!</li>
<li>5:45pm – approximate release from band hall</li>
</ul>

<h3>Monday, December 6, 2010</h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>4:30pm to 6:00pm Dress Rehearsal at GHS for all band students in 1<sup>st</sup>/5<sup>th</sup> period to rehearse with percussion!</strong></li>
<li>4:30pm – Wind Sym on PAC stage and Wind Ens in RH1</li>
<li>5:30pm – All Woodwinds on PAC stage and All Brass in RH1</li>
<li>6:00pm &#8211; Dismissal</li>
</ul>
<h3>Tuesday, December 7, 2010</h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>6:30pm Holiday Concert – GHS PAC – all band and guard</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>*** Students are to wear ALL BLACK***</li>
<li>Ladies- please continue wearing tights/black hose and closed toed shoes just like last year!</li>
<li>Gentlemen- remember, we wear long sleeved black shirts!</li>
<li>Jazz Ensemble- (not combo) – gentlemen, be sure to wear your black tie and jacket</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Concert info: All parents, friends, relatives, neighbors, pastors encouraged to attend.  This promises to be a wonderful evening of beautiful band music!  Please make plans to stay for the entire concert as students will be required to sit with their band and stay for the entire concert.  (should end around 8:00pm)</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Arrival times:
<ul>
<li>Juniors who have “Ring Ceremony” will be given their rings first at the Annex Ceremony at 6:00pm so that they can hurry to the concert.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Call times for Tuesday concert:
<ul>
<li>5:00 &#8211; guard on stage</li>
<li>5:25 &#8211; jazz combo on stage</li>
<li>5:40 &#8211; jazz ensemble on stage</li>
<li>5:45 &#8211; Symphonic Band in RH1</li>
<li>6:15 &#8211; All other students in PAC seated in audience</li>
<li>6:30 &#8211; Concert begins</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Be sure to wear all black!</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>DVD Pre-orders… Your 2010 GHS Eagle Marching Band DVD from Cloud9 should be available before the holiday break, but Santa&#8217;s elves are not promising a Concert Night delivery this year.  Thanks for your patience!</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>DVD Orders!  The $40.00 2010 Eagle Marching Band DVD preview will be showing in the lobby and you can still pre-order your copy in the lobby!  Checks payable to GPAA BAND.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Friday, December 10</h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>All Region Band auditions for:</strong>
<ul>
<li>Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Horn, Tenor Trombone &amp; Percussion</li>
<li>Vista Ridge HS, Leander ISD</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>5:30pm student check-in</li>
<li>Bus Transportation provided.  (leaves GHS at 4:30pm)</li>
<li>Georgetown students are asked to ride the bus to the audition.  Most parents then have their child call/text them once their audition is done.  By the time the parent arrives at Vista Ridge, the results will be posted.  This gets the kids home earlier.  Your second option is the students riding the bus home to GHS, but the bus typically arrives to GHS at 11:00pm.</li>

<li>Bus Transportation provided.  (leaves GHS at 12:30pm)</li>
