The band did an outstanding job on Saturday at the Christmas Stroll Parade! It was great to see all of the GISD bands represented and performing together. What a great experience for everyone!

Also, this weekend the band competed at the All Region Band Auditions. Several students placed well and some advanced!!

Placing in District: Sofia Restrepo on French Horn

Placing in Region: Sherianne Maiorelle on Flute, Aminah Agha on Clarinet, Shane Lemanski on Bass Clarinet, Matthew Stephens on French Horn and Laura Schwietzer on Euphonium.

Advancing to Area: Carter Calkins on Oboe and Gordon Janda on Tuba

*** Here is a quick reminder about Concert Etiquette***

A theatrical or concert experience is a sharing between the performer and the audience. The performers are giving their time and energy to provide an entertaining and educational experience to the audience. In return, the audience should give its full attention to the performers. In order to do this, the following etiquette must be applied:

No one should move from his or her seat, nor should they be walking up and down the aisles once the performance begins.  Anyone arriving late must wait until a selection, event or act is finished before taking a seat.

During the actual performance, remain silent, except in those RARE moments of audience participation. Avoid any excess movement that makes noise.

All applause is simply clapping, but if you particularly enjoy a piece of music or act, it can be vigorous. Verbal whistle sounds are NEVER appropriate and avoid calling attention to yourself as an audience member by yelling at a performer or cheering them on. A standing ovation is appropriate if you especially appreciated a soloist, duet, final number or during a curtain call. This helps  to keep the dignity of the hall and the event.

There is to be no flash photography because it is distracting to the performers on stage.

Please turn off all pagers and cell phones, or turn to the silent mode. YOU DO NOT WANT TO CALL ATTENTION TO YOURSELF AS AN AUDIENCE MEMBER!
