Congratulations GHS Band on your 1st division rating from all three judges tonight at UIL Contest! Some of the judges’ comments were: “Great energetic show!”, “Outstanding sounds from every section in the band!” and “Individual movement is outstanding!”
The band staff is so proud of each and every one of you! What a great way to end a fantastic week of hard work and dedication. Your performance blew us away today! Congrats, GEORGETOWN! Bravo!

*** Notice! The band staff has announced that we have been considering a lock-in on Friday night in the band hall. We looked into shower facilities and sleeping conditions for the kids. The logistics of getting our large number of students changed, fed, showered and down to rest would not maximize the student’s sleep Friday night efficiently. You will notice below under the Friday and Saturday itineraries that our students will be dismissed Friday night to go immediately home. All students must be back to GHS and on the charter bus at 4:40am for roll check. ***

We have 3 goals to accomplish this week:
1. Strive, don’t accept – each student is to step off the UIL Contest marching field this coming Saturday knowing that they marched and played the best they possibly could. This can be accomplished only if 100% of the students are “All In” in rehearsals… mentally and physically.
2. Individual Effort – each student is to turn in a piece of paper in class on Tuesday. At the top, they write what they could have personally done better at Westlake Marching Festival. At the bottom, they write what goals they are setting for themselves this week in order to perform at the highest level on Saturday at UIL.
3. Team Effort – 100% attendance at 100% of the rehearsals leading up to UIL.
