Highlights

• Thursday – Football Game in Leander
• Friday – Parent Preview Night
  • Families and friends come see a full performance of the competition show – Arrive around 6:00 for the 6:30 show
  • Learn the “Applause Moments” so you can help the band have the biggest impact at competitions

• Saturday – BOA Houston Marching Competition

Monday, September 28, 2009

• 4:00pm-6:15pm – Full Band Rehearsal
• 6:30pm – Parent pick-up in west lot outside band hall doors facing Austin Ave… not in circle drive!

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

• 4:00pm to 6:45pm STADIUM rehearsal. Tuesday parent pickup is 7:00pm.

• Brass bring concert horn (except freshmen)

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

• No after school rehearsal.
• All bring concert horn.
• NINTH GRADERS… We are ending the day AT THE NGC! Bring your concert horns to school today to the NGC and you will have band class today in the NGC BAND HALL.

Thursday, October 1, 2009 – Away Game vs. Vista Ridge

• Bring to school in a duffel:
  • Black socks – PROVIDED BY STUDENT –must be calf-length. No ankle length allowed!
  • Black marching shoes
  • Blue Shorts
  • Show Shirt
  • Flip folder ON A LANYARD

• Schedule
  • 3:45pm – Change into show shirt, blue shorts, black socks and black marching shoes
  • 4:00pm – DINNER in commons
  • 4:30pm – Clear commons, – everyone go put on uniform!
  • 4:55pm – Load buses
  • 5:15pm – depart Georgetown HS
  • 5:45pm – arrival at Leander HS, AC Bible Stadium

  • 6:25pm – winds warm-up in stands

  • 8:00pm – halftime
  • 9:45pm – Released by sections from stands to load trailer
  • 10:30pm – Depart Leander HS
  • 11:08pm – Arrival at GHS – PARENTS… please pick-up in west lot outside band hall doors
  • facing Austin Ave… not in circle drive as that is where our 18-wheeler needs to unload!
  • 11:30pm- approximate dismissal

Friday, October 2, 2009 – Parent Preview Night

• 4:00pm-7:00pm – Full Band Rehearsal
• 6:30pm – PARENT PREVIEW !
  • Parents, bring your lawnchairs and come join us out on the marching practice field to watch the last 30 minutes of our rehearsal! We will perform each movement and show parents and supporters where all the “APPLAUSE MOMENTS” are in each movement. This way… at contest you will know exactly when to cheer loudly in our show! Bring out grandpa and crazy Aunt Marie… it will be a great experience for the kids to perform for family and friends! We will continue the evening at 7:00pm with BURGERS provided to ALL attendees… students and family alike! An appropriate time to arrive would be between 6:00pm and 6:15pm to give you time to set up your lawnchairs for a 6:30pm start time! We hope to see EVERYONE there! Park and meet in back of GHS by the tennis courts. Be sure to go to the FRONT sideline, we sound better from the front.

• 6:00pm – PROP POPS – We will be practicing getting on and off the field. Any prop pop that can commit to being in Pearland is asked to please attend tonight’s 6pm run-through.

10/3- Saturday – BOA Houston Regional Marching Contest

• Arrive with:
  • Sack Lunch with a Gatorade!
  • Show Shirt
  • Blue band shorts
  • Black socks
  • Black marching shoes

• Schedule
  • 6:30am – Arrive at GISD stadium
  • 6:45am – Begin roll check and stretches
  • 7:45am – End run-through & load trailer & buses
  • 8:30am – Depart for Pearland
  • EAT SACK LUNCH ON BUS
  • 12:30pm – Arrive at Pearland Stadium
  • 12:30pm – Percussion and loading crew – exit bus and go unload all perc equip off trailer.
  • 12:30pm – Winds put on uniform
  • 12:45pm – Winds (once in uniform) move by section to trailer to unload your instrument.
  • 12:45pm – Percussion put on uniform
  • 1:30pm – Stretch block & fundamentals
  • 1:45pm – Head to warm-up area for Official warm-up time
  • 3:00pm- PERFORM!
  • 3:15pm- Head to trailer for gatorade
  • 3:30pm – Go into stands to watch bands (with instruments)
  • 4:45pm- Awards ceremony
  • 5:00pm- dinner at picnic area behind Pearland HS – keep marching pants on. Eat neatly!
    • Fold jacket and set it on your shako next to instrument in the designated area near the serving line.
  • Finals begin at 7:15pm
  • 12:00am – depart Pearland on charters
  • 3:00am – approximate arrival in Gtown
  • unload trailer
  • 3:30am- approximate dismissal (could be significantly earlier. Please send your child with a cell phone so that they can call once they hit the outskirts of Georgetown)
