Hey Band, you are going to have an AMAZING experience to remember this week! Homecoming week is certainly like no other. Be ready for an exciting ride with much going on. Rest when you can and plan ahead for your classes, as we have a full plate this week! Take care of yourselves and take care of your grades. Students, be sure to go into tutorials with your teachers in the mornings from 8:00am to 8:35am, they are there to help you! Friends, be supportive of each other this week as we work together to strive for excellence in our grades and conclusion to our show!

Special Announcements for Homecoming:

  • For Friday night’s homecoming game, we will be handling attendance the same as any other game or performance.
  • All band and colorguard students are to suit-out with the band, eat with the band, sit with the band and perform with the band from 3:45pm until dismissal back at GHS around approximately 11:15pm.
  • We do not allow mums or garters to be worn on band uniforms or colorguard uniforms. The students can wear them all day long until 3:45pm at school.

  • You will learn “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” today in band classes for Homecoming.
  • 4:00pm-6:15pm – Full Band Rehearsal
  • 6:30pm – Parent pick-up in west lot outside band hall doors facing Austin Ave… not in circle drive!

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

  • 4:00pm to 6:45pm STADIUM rehearsal. Tuesday parent pickup is 7:00pm.
  • Brass bring concert horn (except freshmen)

Wednesday, September 23rdHomecoming Eagle Walk and Pep Rally [CANCELLED]

  • Bring to school in a duffel:
    • Tennis shoes
    • Khaki Shorts
    • Blue Band Polo
    • Triangle Tshirt
    • Belt
    • Flip folder ON A LANYARD
  • Freshmen — Bring your marching horns today. We will be busing to GHS today for the Homecoming festivities and thus will not need concert instruments.
  • Schedule
    • 3:45pm – Change into tennis shoes, khaki shorts, belt and black triangle T
    • 4:00pm – Rehearsal
    • 4:45pm – Finish rehearsal. Head to Music Building to put on blue band polo.
    • 4:50pm – Dinner in commons.
    • 5:25pm – Put on uniform.
    • 5:40pm- Line up parade block.
    • 5:50pm – Parade!
    • 6:00pm – Eagle Walk — We parade through visitor gate, onto the field up the back sideline and turn right down the 50 yard line through the “Helmet” and turn left on the front sideline. Follow the sideline to the end zone to line up and wait for Eagle Walk to conclude.
    • 6:45pm – Pep rally begins. GHS band performs throughout and will stay onfield throughout until dismissed back to band hall.
    • 7:45pm – Approximate dismissal from Band Hall


Thursday, September 24rd

  • 4:00pm-6:15pm – Full Band Rehearsal

Friday, September 25th – HOMECOMING [Updated 9-24]

  • ALL ARRIVE AT GHS AT 7:30am to prepare for the pep rally! We will warm-up and take roll in RH1 at 7:35am and then move to the gym at 7:45am. Battery parade through hallway at 7:50am.
  • ALL WEAR BLACK TRIANGLE T.
  • PEP RALLY TODAY!!! We will bus the 9th graders back to the NGC for your 1st class of the day.
  • Bring to school in a duffel:
    • Black socks – PROVIDED BY STUDENT –must be calf-length. No ankle length allowed!
    • Black marching shoes
    • Blue Shorts
    • Show Shirt
    • Large water jug for afternoon rehearsal outside
    • Flip folder ON A LANYARD
  • Schedule
    • 3:45pm – Change into triangle-T, blue shorts, black socks and black marching shoes
    • 4:00pm- Rehearsal
    • 4:55pm – Drivers please go move cars and then change into show shirt.
    • 5:00pm – Finish rehearsal. Head to Music Building to put on show shirt.
    • 5:05pm – Dinner in commons.
    • 5:35pm  – Clear Commons
    • 5:40pm – Put on uniform.
    • 5:55pm – LINE UP PARADE BLOCK!
    • 6:05pm – Parade!
    • 6:15pm – Load stands.
    • 6:35pm – winds warm-up in stands
    • 6:55pm – water break
    • 7:00pm – No playing until our school song is announced.
    • 7:17pm – visitor school song
    • 7:19pm – home school song
    • 7:21pm – metal shop
    • 7:23pm – fight song for team entrance
    • 7:28pm – National Anthem by choir
    • 7:30pm – kickoff
    • 8:45pm – halftime — “Somewhere Over the Rainbow
    • 10:15pm – Perform marching show and Georgette tune AFTER the game.
    • 10:45pm – Quick meeting around drum major podium
    • 11:00pm – Hang uniforms in uniform room
    • 11:15pm – Approximate dismissal
