Monday, 8/24/2009 - First Day of School!

  • Arrive with:
    • LARGE jug of ice water
    • Duffel with change of marching clothes and tennis shoes
    • Sunscreen
    • Hat
    • Flip Folder with lyre
    • Marching Instrument
  • Arrive at YOUR specific campus and go to BAND HALL first to put your duffel away and get any announcements for the day.
    • 8:15am is a good time to arrive, unless you ride the bus.
  • FYI – during ALL band periods, we will be playing marching instruments and going over items in the handbook. Bring a pencil and all your marching music!
  • 9th graders – You will be bussed over on buses #100 and #95.
    • You will change at GHS before class begins.
    • More info when you arrive on site at GHS… be sure that you have your duffel and your instrument and your water!!!!
  • ALL Percussion and Guard: You will change in the band hall once you arrive for 4th period.
  • AFTER SCHOOL:
    • 10th-12th grade woodwinds and brass – Move QUICKLY after 4th period to the band hall and change! Remember to apply sunscreen!
    • 4:00pm-6:15pm – Full Band Rehearsal
    • 6:30pm – Parent pick-up in west lot outside band hall doors facing Austin Ave… not in circle drive!

Tuesday, 8/25/2009Same plan as Monday except…

  • Everyone will need to bring your black marching shoes for Tuesday’s rehearsal.
  • We will be having part of our rehearsal in the stadium with shoes and shakos. This is very important as it will give you a accurate feel of a marching performance.
  • Before you walk outside to start the rehearsal, do grab your shako (leave it in the shako box)and have your MTX marching shoes on.
  • 4:00pm to 6:45pm rehearsal. We will be in the stadium EVERY Tuesday rehearsal which will require a later end time.
  • Tuesday parent pickup is 7:00pm.

Wednesday, 8/26/2009 - No afterschool rehearsal.

  • 9th Graders… You will end your day at GHS at 3:45pm Wednesday. If you need to ride the bus home, please contact Mr. Schayot and he will get you on a bus departing from GHS.

Thursday, 8/27/2009 - Same plan as Monday.

  • 4:00pm-6:15pm – Full Band Rehearsal
  • 6:30pm – Parent pick-up

Friday, 8/28/2009Home Game vs.  San Antonio Southwest

  • ALL ARRIVE AT GHS AT 7:30am to prepare for the pep rally!
    • ALL WEAR BLACK TRIANGLE T. If you don’t have yours yet, we will distribute at 7:25am Friday 8/28 in uniform room.
    • PEP RALLY TODAY!!! We will bus the 9th graders back to the NGC for your 1st class of the day. 9th graders will ride bus #108 and 96 immediately following the pep rally.
  • Bring in a duffel:
    • Black socks – PROVIDED BY STUDENT – MUST BE CALF LENGTH, NOT ANKLE LENGTH
    • Black marching shoes
    • Flip folder ON A LANYARD
    • LARGE jug of water
  • To be distributed today (before dinner):
    • Show Shirt
    • Blue Shorts
  • Game Schedule
    • 3:45pm – GHS brass and woodwinds dress into triangle-T, blue band shorts & marching shoes QUICKLY!
    • 4:00pm – Rehearsal outside
    • 4:45pm – Drivers please go move cars and then change into show shirt
    • 4:55pm – Non-drivers released to head inside to change shirts
    • 5:00pm – Dinner in Commons – SCHLOTZSKY’S !! (Contact Mr. Schayot if you have dietary restrictions of ANY kind!!)
    • 5:45pm – Clear Commons. Flutes are clean-up crew
    • 5:46pm- Band
      • Put on entire uniform and head out with instrument (no case), shako (no case) and flip-folder to the west student lot
      • Cars should be clear because you MOVED THEM!
    • 6:00pm – Form parade block in west student lot.
    • 6:10pm – PARADE!
    • 6:20pm – Load stands
    • 6:35pm – Winds warm-up in stands
    • 6:55pm – Water break
    • 7:00pm – No playing until our school song is announced.
    • 7:17pm – Visitor school song
    • 7:19pm – Home school song
    • 7:21pm – Metal shop
    • 7:23pm – Fight song for team entrance
    • 7:28pm- National Anthem by choir
    • 7:30pm- Kickoff
    • 8:30pm – Halftime
    • 8:50pm – PROP POPS- after halftime, move pit walls off towards the jumbotron endzone and move around the back sideline counterclockwise during Georgette performance. Follow pit to band hall.
    • 10:15pm- All Chaperones head back to the uniform room to assist Ms. Roberts with uniform collection. She will train you before the kids arrive.
    • 10:25pm – Meeting in stands
    • 10:30pm – Released by sections from stands
    • 10:35pm – Hang uniforms correctly and stand in line outside uniform room
    • 11:00pm- Approximate dismissal (parent pick-up in west lot outside band hall doors facing Austin Ave… not in circle drive!)
